Description
Offering Protomelas sp. Steveni Taiwan (Taiwanee Reef Cichlid).
Growing to approximately 6 inches, the Taiwan Reef Cichlid is a medium sized cichlid from Lake Malawi with a very exotic colouration consisting of a vibrant blue head and body, with bright yellow underside. Aim to avoid housing it with excessively aggressive species, as this fish will display better colouration as the dominant male. They appreciate a rocky set-up with sandy substrate, with open areas to swim in. Typically, reproduction is achieved through mouthbrooding, where the female will hold eggs in her mouth for up to 3 – 4 weeks. Feed a balanced diet from flake, pellet frozen and / or live foods, it is very important to note that this species does not tolerate poor water quality, therefore a strict schedule of regular water changes is a must.
