Closely related to the standard neon tetra, the wild caught green neon is a smaller fish recognised by its greener colouration and less red than other neon varieties. It makes for a beautiful shoaling fish in long narrow aquaria, accepting a wide varieties of food from flake, pellets, dried, live and/or frozen a balance of which helps to maintain their health and colouration. Due to its small size of roughly 0.5 inches, it is wise to avoid housing with larger inhabitants even those of a peaceful nature may happily eat tiny green neons.
