Offering Paracheirodon axelrodi (Cardinal Tetra).
Growing to approximately 1 inches, the cardinal tetra is an extremely popular freshwater fish similar in colour to its cousin the neon tetra, its main differences being its slightly larger size, with blue and red colouration extending the full length of its body. It is a peaceful fish, often housed with discus cichlids at higher temperatures; they are open to a wide variety of foods such as flake, dried, live or frozen. A balanced diet will aid their colouration and overall health. To best appreciate this fish, a shoal of 20 + in a larger aquarium is recommended, in a biotope with blackwater extract. Failing this, they fit in well to many community aquariums provided tank mates will not bully or outcompete them for food. Large, predatory fish such as cichlids should be avoided as they will easily make a meal out of cardinal tetras.
