Description

Offering Melanotaenia lacustris (Lake Kutubu Rainbowfish).

A peaceful fish from Papua New Guinea, the Blue Rainbowfish is so named for its deep blue, vivid colouration, growing to approximately 3 – 4 inches. As natural shoalers, they do best in numbers, and will eat a varied diet that is fitting for their small mouths. They do not bother tankmates, but require a large aquarium to allow them to swim actively. As with most rainbowfish, juveniles are relatively drab, however given good conditions and time to develop into adults, they will display their fully impressive colouration which even involves an orange stripe on male fish foreheads during breeding.
