Known by a variety of names, including johanni cichlid, blue johanni, bluegrey mbuna, blue mbuna and electric blue johanni. This fish offers a visually appealing option, with females a bright yellow orange, and males taking after their namesake with an electric blue colouration. Being an mbuna, it is highly aggressive and appreciates a dense network of rocky caves and sandy substrate to call home. While they appreciate a balanced diet, regular large water changes are a must to maintain their health and avoid bloat. Choose tankmates carefully, any co-habitants unable to defend themselves will quickly find themselves dominated by males of this species.
