Offering Mastacembelus armatus (Tyre-Track Eel).

A larger eel found in a variety of different habitats across East Asia, this eel is known by a variety of names such as tyre track, zig zag, leopard spiny, all due to its intriguingly patterned body. Growing up to 3 feet long in the wild, but about half that size in aquaria, these can develop into large fish and need suitably sized housing to accommodate. A nocturnal eel, they will actively eat smaller fish, so any tankmates must be of a medium to large size. Known to be aggressive to their own kind, their movement and size can easily disturb planted aquaria, though they will in most cases adapt to whatever environment they are introduced to in terms of decoration. Aim to feed these fish live food, or frozen equivalent such as bloodworm, brine shrimp etc.
