A large fish from Lake Malawi, growing to approximately 9 inches the Malawi Eye Biter is so named for its tendency to consume the eyes of its prey, despite such behaviour being witnessed rarely. It is easily identifiable by its compressed body and long jaws, adults are brightly coloured and hunt by means of ambush on smaller fish. They tend to swim in open water, displaying territorial behaviours during breeding. Aim to feed a balanced diet of commercial and live / frozen foods, to promote their health and colouration.
