Found in streams, rivers and flooded forest floors the Siamese algae eater is a peaceful aquarium inhabitant well known for its super algae eating capabilities. They are identified by a black horizontal stripe against it’s pale, beige body streamlined for dealing with fast water flow. They can reach sizes of 6 inches in aquaria. To witness natural behaviours, they are best kept in groups; and will accept most commercial foods over and above algae, including wafers. Kept in clean water with a balanced diet and suitable tank mates, they can be expect to live for a decade; becoming a standard inhabitant in many community aquariums.
