An African fish, growing to approximately 5 inch in aquaria, but larger in the wild, the leopard bushfish is so named for its brown splotches against a yellow background similar to a leopard.
It is a relatively hardy fish that can adapt to different aquaria, and may be a good option for a medium sized community where it will neither face bullying from fish such as cichlids, and also be denied the chance to ambush and predate on smaller fish such as neon tetra.
One of their unique features is their stalking behaviour of food, where they slowly approach then lunge. To re-create this in aquaria, aim to feed live and/or frozen foods, this species can struggle to be enticed by commercial foods.
