The Lemon Tetra, is so named for its lemon coloured sheen; against its transparent body. It does well in groups of 8 or more, where it is more likely to display natural behaviours.
Entirely peaceful, they are good additions to a community aquarium; it is best to avoid aggressive, boisterous fish such as cichlids that will stress them out. Planted aquariums also help these fish feel secure, their lemon colour making for a nice visual contrast against green foliage.
To help bring out their lemon colour, give them a balanced diet from a selection of flake, pellet, dried, live and/or frozen foods, with regular water changes to prevent creeping nitrates.
Growing to approximately 2 inches, lemon tetras can be kept in 24" tanks of approximately 60 litres and upwards.
