More info

A part of the Bagridae family of catfish, the two-spot mystus is so named for its body patterning. Growing to approximately 2 inches, it is one of the smaller catfish available, and does well in naturally decorated aquaria with dense plants, rock and sand/gravel substrate and an ideally low pH water content.

Peaceful with even small fish, as with all catfish it can still be risky housing it with fry. Ideally these catfish should be housed in a shoal, they don't require large aquaria, 50 litres or more would be ideal.

Accepting a mixed diet, aim to include some frozen/live food for best results. It has yet to be bred in captivity without the aid of added hormones, and represents a true challenge for the avid fishkeeper. All attempts at breeding should be encouraged as this species is in danger in its natural habitat.
